DEFINITION OF A COACH
A coach will design a partnership agreement based upon your personal goals and tailored to your individual needs and style.
A Coach Will:
• Listen to you.
• Help you hone your vision.
• Keep an unwavering focus on your goals, be your advocate and partner, while having your best interests, health and well being at heart.
• Offer advice, ideas and perspective when appropriate and in a way you can use them.
• Challenge you and hold you accountable.
• Make bold requests and ask for your best.
• Not pull any punches, give honest, constructive feedback.
• Speak to your strengths and greatness, encourage and endorse you.
Is a Coach a Consultant, Therapist or Counsellor?
Consultants provide expert advice in a specialized field. All coaches are consultants. Not all consultants are coaches. Coaches keep you in action by pro-actively making requests to achieve specific goals.
Therapists and counsellors utilize a process-oriented approach to heal problems. Coaching is not Therapy. A coach may counsel, but mostly acts as your partner. You do the work; you supply the answers and insight and determine your course of action. A coach will provide input maily to keep you focused and on track. A coach listens and lets you see where and who you are.
