DR. DOUG HANSON

Dr. Doug Hanson's contemporary practice, located in a commercial building in Val Caron, a bedroom community of Sudbury, Ontario, is the epitome of what a successful dental practice looks and feels like.

In 1999, Dr. Hanson was looking for systems and strategies to assist him with practice growth and team development. After speaking with colleagues and completing his own research, he decided that Transitions would be a good fit to support him.

The practice has excelled over the past 4 years with instrumental growth in all areas of team development, patient services and financial increases. Dr. Hanson discovered early in the change process that "it all starts at the top" and he has committed himself to being a better leader as well as a dentist.

The current team has developed into a high performing team who shares the vision of the practice and excels in their clearly defined roles. They take responsibility for their outcomes and are accountable for their contribution. This has allowed Dr. Hanson to gain balance with more personal time and focus on his clinical dentistry.

Working smarter, not harder has allowed a less hectic pace for the practice with simple and organized systems. Patient care has improved with new communication tools and Millennium Aesthetics hands-on courses in smile design techniques. The successful integration of a Restorative Dental Hygienist has allowed Dr. Hanson to realize his restorative goals of comprehensive treatment planning and an increase in case acceptance.

This team has a developed a reading club as the result of Transitions recommended reading and each month the team reads and discusses how to implement the learning into their own environment. The financial increases of the past four years allowed for the entire team to take an all inclusive trip to Mexico with their Transitions coach to celebrate their efforts.

Living in northern Ontario has definitely been an enhanced experience for all those who seek their dental care from this patient-centered practice.
